JK: While there may be many ways or no ways at all to arrive at truth, a dialectic between respectful people with intentions actively change their viewpoint to something closer to the truth is one that feels rather productive and something I'd like to see restored. Now, this format isn't a classical conversation, but perhaps it can be better. From what I understand, Plato would create dialogues that never quite existed as written. My intention here is that we can find ways of representing our views in this collective, incremental way, such that we can follow and be satisfied with them for the time being.
Now, I don't think this is the be-all, end-all, but transient text messages, e-mails and phone calls all seem to fail to hold the thread long enough to generate any real mutual understanding. Maybe this will.
