Assertion: If we can agree on some of our facts, we might be more tolerant to some of our opinions
JK: What we believe matters. I'm not so sure what to believe, but I hold some pretty strong opinions on some things. I often feel that right-wing, conservative media pushes beliefs that are--well--significantly unfounded. I believe this is done in support of a narrative that represses the thoughts of conservative people and generates conflict when there could be understanding and compromise.
And, yes, I feel that left-wing, progressive media does exactly the same thing--I just happen to fall for their narrative more often.
To that end, I'd like to establish some dialogs with you, JH, as a defender of conservative ideology. The rules are simple:
- Feel free to edit this as much as you want, even words presented as coming out of my mouth.
- Keep editing until you are happy with it and I'll do the same.
This might mean when I say something really stupid, I might remove it. Or, I might leave it to remind myself.
Over time, I hope we end up with something that draws us closer, even when--no--especially when, we don't agree.
JH: Cool dude! You are an idiot. ;-)
JK: OK. Now that we are aligned, my first topic will be on Columbus.
